Find the right path and stick to it

We’ve said this before, but there’s no going around it. Socrates said it too: “Know thyself.” Finding the right path starts with a choice, and the path inevitably follows. Once you are on your way, the next important thing is to become unstoppable. But how do you do that?

Life is sure to throw some curve balls at you. We all know that hard times are a part of life’s game. No matter how hard we try to make things nice and easy, there are always challenges to face; sometimes, they are even entirely out of our control.

So how do you become unstoppable in the face of life’s challenges?

Crawl if you must

As you may know, I have been following some ultra runners lately. They are a suffering bunch; they put themselves through hell… But they’ll do everything they can, not to DNF – not finish the race. So how do they do that?

Martin Luther King said:

“If you cannot fly, run, if you cannot run, walk, if you cannot walk, crawl, but by all means, keep moving forward.”
Martin Luther King – address speech at Spelman College, April 1960.

It all starts with choosing a path of purpose that will keep you motivated during the hard times. Then, commit to that path and stay on it no matter what. That’s hard enough. But how to proceed?

Here are three sure ways to become unstoppable

1. Choose a path with purpose and meaning and commit to it.

2. Get help and assistance, don’t walk the path alone

3. Understand that setbacks are part of the path; relate to them as opportunities to learn and grow

Never give up

That, too, is easier said than done. Today I was asked what I learned from my parents. My father taught me one of the essential things: never giving up. He is an expert. His motto is – however, slight the chance, give it a fight when you believe in it.

Even if there is no chance, fight for what you believe in because you’ll know you’ve done your best between you and yourself. Not doing everything you can, is out of integrity if you made a real commitment. They say that once you commit, the universe conspires in your favor.

Experience matters

From experience, I can say that it’s true the universe does conspire in your favor if you choose to become unstoppable. That’s how we established the Free Dome project in September 2000, the first Israeli contemporary circus. That’s how we created everything we created in contemporary circus in Israel at the time. We committed to it and gave it our all, and the universe conspired in our favor.

There still is no budget for circus in Israel, and it is still not recognized as an art form by the ministry of culture. Nevertheless, somehow for 20 years, we have managed to create shows, tour with them around the world, and create a fantastic circus community with young generations who will continue the fight in the future.

So, what are you committing to? Who is helping you? And what hurdles are you facing? Please share in the comments below, and if you need any help, you know where to find me.
